The Bajaj Avenger Street has been launched in India at Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This brand new offering will be available in two variants – an entry-level Avenger 150 Street and an Avenger 220 Street, the latter has been priced at Rs 84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Complete with dark undertones, the new Avenger Street models have been pegged as sportier versions of the Avenger motorcycle. They get a host of new features like alloy wheels, new grab rail, rubber bellow on the front forks, black cover for the oil-cooler and a new high bass silencer with a louder exhaust note. The lower and flatter handlebar aids the handling and manoeuvrability of the motorcycle, which should improve its usability in cities. The redesigned seat gets softer cushions to improve the comfort levels. It also gets a brand new insignia on the fuel tank.
The Avenger Street is built around the same tubular double cradle frame. Powering the entry-level Avenger 150 Street is a 150cc single-cylinder DTS-i engine, which is also used in the Pulsar 150. However, Bajaj has retuned the engine to bump up the low and mid-range torque. The engine churns out 14bhp and 12Nm of torque. The Avenger 220 Street, on the other hand, gets the same 220cc single-cylinder oil-cooled DTS-i engine, which puts out 19bhp and 17Nm of torque. Both the models are offered with a five-speed transmission.
Unlike the previous Avenger models, Bajaj has restricted the colour schemes of the new Avenger Street to just one per model. While the Avenger 220 Street comes painted in matt black, the Avenger 150 Street is available only in a midnight blue colour scheme.
