Bajaj Motorcycles is gearing up to launch the new Avenger. The cruiser has been in the company’s line up for a long time and was long due for a major update.
The new Avenger will be more than just a regular facelift and will come with the new 200cc engine that powers the Pulsar NS200 and the Pulsar AS200. This is a proven engine and it makes complete sense to plonk it on the new Avenger. It is more powerful, refined and is liquid-cooled. We don’t think Bajaj will play with the power figures for this new Avenger. The mill will continue to churn out 23.5bhp at 9500rpm and maximum torque of 18.3Nm at 8000rpm. This engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox with revised gear ratios.
On the cosmetic front, the new Avenger will get more than just a sticker job. While the basic look of the bike won’t change, we are expecting the new Avenger to get redesigned body panels and headlamp cluster, better brakes and a digital instrument cluster.
Bajaj will launch the new Avenger in the next few months. We are expecting the price of this new bike to remain unchanged at Rs 81,084 (ex-showroom Pune).
