It has just been a month since Bajaj announced its plans to make the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 in India. But it looks like the company is betting big on this Swedish brand.
One of the top honchos of the company said that Husqvarna will be a bigger success than KTM in India. Husqvarna bikes are easier to ride, thanks to the comfortable ergonomics. This will attract a wider audience, unlike KTMs which are more focused towards young audience due to its styling and performance aspects. While the company hasn’t revealed its sales and distribution strategies for Husqvarna yet, we believe it will be sold through KTM showrooms.
Bajaj has been trying very hard to steal away from sales from Royal Enfield. In fact, the Pune-based manufacturer has switched from cruising and touring product positioning to ‘Hyperriding’. With Husqvarna, Bajaj might try
We’re a little skeptical about Bajaj’s claims because the company plans to position the Husqvarna bikes above KTM. This means it will be expensive and the sales of such bikes are always on the lower side. It will also be interesting to see Bajaj’s definition of success – is it the number of bikes sold or the market acceptance?.
