Bajaj Chetak 2901: Which other electric scooter can you buy?

Bajaj Auto recently launched its sub-Rs 1 lakh Chetak in the 2901 trim. It bears the same styling as the rest of the Chetak range, however, Bajaj has introduced bold colours which should appeal to the youth.

Bajaj has also equipped the scooter with a decent set of features. It includes a colour digital instrument cluster that also gets Bluetooth connectivity. Customers can also purchase the TecPac that enables features such as Hill Hold, Reverse mode, Sport and Economy modes, call and music control, Follow me home lights and Bluetooth App connectivity.

As for the range, Bajaj claims that the Chetak 2901 can cover 123km in a single charge as per ARAI certification

If you are in the market for an electric scooter that costs under Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom, the Chetak makes a case for itself. However, if the Chetak doesn’t appeal to you here are the options.

Ola S1X

The Ola S1X is the most affordable model in the Ola electric scooter range. The e-scooter is available in three battery configurations including 2kWh, 3kWh, and 4kWh which are priced at Rs. 70,000, Rs. 85,000, and Rs. 1 lakh, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom).

The three variants of the scooter offer varying riding ranges which stand at 95km, 143km, and 190km. Ola offers the S1 X with a 2.7kW motor in all the variants and each is capable of hitting a top speed of 90kmph.

The scooters feature dual tone colours, blacked out wheels and drum brakes at either end. At present it is the most affordable electric scooter in this set and should appeal to those on a strict budget but don’t want an electric scooter that feels like a compromise.

TVSiQube

The TVS iQube is a well built, comfortable and proven family electric scooter. The design is inoffensive, there’s enough space for two adults and its performance isn’t overwhelmingly quick to deter first time electric scooter buyers from adopting it.

The iQube has a decent set of features as well. The 2.2kWh variant is the most affordable one and it offers a real world range of 75km. In terms of features, it has a TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation and more.

Ather 450S

The Ather 450S will appeal to those looking for an electric scooter that has a sharp, sporty design, is built well and has a proven track record. It is also the most affordable Ather 450 series scooter that one can buy while not skimping on features.

The Ather 450S should appeal to those who want to enter the world of Ather electric scooters but aren’t willing to spend a lot of money.
