Bajaj Auto recently added the Chetak 35 Series to its EV portfolio in India. This new 35 Series is available in three variants - 3501, 3502, and 3503. The Chetak 3501 is the top-spec version and here are the top 5 highlights of the electric scooter.
All-new platform
The Bajaj Chetak 35 Series may look identical in design to the other Chetak models. Underneath, it is based on an all-new platform with a new electric motor and controller unit and gets a floorboard-mounted battery pack. This new chassis design has resulted in an increase in footboard area and a larger 35-litre under-seat storage.
New motor and bigger battery
The Chetak 3501 is powered by a 4kW permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a bigger 3.5kWh battery pack. Bajaj has used energy-dense 21,700 NMC cells for the battery pack, which offers an IDC range of 153kg. The scooter has a top speed of 73kph. It comes loaded with a 950W onboard charger that charges the scooter from 0 to 80 per cent in three hours.
Loaded with features
Unlike older Chetak models, the Chetak 3501 is on par with most other electric scooters in the segment when it comes to features. It gets a five-inch TFT touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity and integrated maps. It gets smart connectivity features such as call and music control, SMS and call notifications, Geo-fencing, OTA updates and more. It also features full LED illumination, multiple riding modes, and a smart key fob.
Design
The 3501 looks identical to the entire Chetak lineup but gets new colours and graphics. That said, owing to the new underpinnings, the scooter sits on a longer wheelbase and an 80mm longer seat. The Chetak 3501 is suspended by a monoshock at both ends while the braking tasks are performed by a front disc and a rear drum brake.
Price
The Bajaj Chetak 3502 is priced at Rs. 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most expensive EV front Bajaj. It costs Rs. 7,000 more than the 3502 variant.
