Bajaj Auto has commenced the online bookings for the Chetak electric in Nagpur. Interested buyers can reserve a unit of the Bajaj Chetak for Rs 2,000. The company had opened the registration earlier in July. Apart from announcing the start of bookings in Nagpur, Bajaj Auto has also confirmed that it will enter Aurangabad and Mysore soon.
The company currently offers two variants of the electric scooter in the Indian market, Urbane and Premium. The base (Urbane) model is priced at Rs 1.43 lakh while the Premium variant is listed at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Nagpur).
The retro-style electric scooter packs several modern features such as full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled console that works with a smartphone application. The feature list on the Chetak matches its rivals like the Ather 450 and the TVS iQube.
The mechanical specifications on both variants include a 3.8kW motor that draws power from a non-removable 3kWh IP67 lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims a range of 95km (in Eco mode) and a top speed of 70kmph. The non-removable battery pack can be recharged through the built-in charger that is fitted under the seat.
