- Bajaj hikes prices of the Chetak
- Urbane variant becomes Rs 15,000 more expensive
- Premium trim is dearer by Rs 5,000
Bajaj has recently increased the prices of the Chetak electric scooter in India. While the Premium variant has received a marginal hike of Rs 5,000, the cheaper Urbane model is now dearer by as much as Rs 15,000. Mentioned below are the latest ex-showroom prices of the Bajaj Chetak.
Bajaj Chetak Urbane: Rs 1,15,000
Bajaj Chetak Premium: Rs 1,20,000
With the new prices, the Bajaj Chetak is now more expensive than its rival, the TVS iQube, which costs Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom). Similar to other petrol-powered two-wheelers, the reason for the Chetak’s price hike is most likely the disruption in the supply chain caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bajaj had also stopped accepting bookings for the e-scooter for a few months.
Apart from the price revision, the Bajaj Chetak remains unchanged in all other areas. It boasts of an elegant neo-retro design that looks inspired by Italian scooters of the olden days. This is complemented by modern features like a Bluetooth-enabled digital console showing a host of information and full-LED lighting.
The Chetak runs on a 3kWh IP67 rated lithium-ion battery that powers a 3.8kW electric motor which can propel it to a top speed of 70kmph. While the battery range in Eco mode is 95kms, the Sport mode brings it down to 85kms. The charging setup comprises of a built-in charger placed under the seat which can be connected to any 5-ampere power socket.
