Bajaj Auto has commenced the bookings for the Chetak electric scooter in three more cities in India. The scooter will soon be offered in Mangalore, Mysore, and Aurangabad. Apart from these cities, the Bajaj Chetak is also available in Pune and Bangalore and was recently launched in Nagpur. The electric scooter, which is available in two variants- Urbane and Premium, is priced from Rs 1.42 lakh. It can be booked online for a down payment of Rs 2,000 with deliveries to take place in the three cities by early August. Moreover, Bajaj had also announced that the Chetak e-scooter will make its way to Chennai and Hyderabad and we can expect it to happen sometime soon. The reason for the phased launches could be due to the ongoing pandemic and lockdown in various parts of the country which might have hampered the supply network.
Nonetheless, the Pune-based manufacturer is bullish with its plans for electrification and is looking to launch the Chetak in 40 cities by March 2022. It also recently announced its plan to invest Rs 100 crore in a subsidiary that would focus solely on electric and hybrid vehicles.
