Bajaj has commenced deliveries of the Chetak electric scooter in Pune and Bangalore.
The manufacturer’s first electric scooter is available in two variants- Urbane and Premium which costs Rs 1 lakhs and Rs 1.15 lakhs (both prices ex-showroom) respectively. The two models are differentiated on the basis of their braking hardware and styling. The Chetak incorporates design cues from the original scooter although with a modern twist.
The Bajaj Chetak uses a IP67 rated, lithium-ion battery mated to a 3kWH motor. This motor produces 4kW (peak) and 3.8kW (continuous) power along with 16Nm of torque. It also offers two modes- Eco and Sport which provide a range of 85kms and 95kms each on a single charge. In terms of features, the scooter offers a Bluetooth-enabled LCD instrument cluster, regenerative braking and Intelligent Braking Management System which controls the charge and discharge of the battery.
Bajaj is expected to launch the Chetak in other cities across in India in the coming months. It competes against the TVS iQube, Ather 450 and the Okinawa iPraise in the country.
