- Chetak EV now priced at Rs. 1.30 lakh
- Valid for a short period
- Costs Rs. 22,000 less than before
Bajaj has announced a massive price cut for its only electric scooter on sale, the Chetak Electric. It’s now priced at Rs. 1,30,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), which is about Rs. 20,000 less than the original price of Rs. 1.52 lakh. This makes it even more affordable than the Ather 450X as well the top-spec Ola S1 Pro Gen 2. For reference, the Ather 450X is priced at Rs. 1.38 lakh and the S1 Pro Gen 2 costs Rs. 1.47 lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
Bajaj says that the discount is valid for a limited time but hasn’t shared a specific date per se. Moreover, it has been coincidentally announced at a time when rival brands have launched their more affordable electric scooter models.
That said, Chetak Electric continues to be one of the few e-scooter from an OEM brand. It’s also one of the few premium electric two-wheelers one can buy currently. The Chetak Electric borrows the old-school design with curvy bodywork from the model of yesteryear. However, it gets modern bits like the LED headlight, a fully digital instrument console and smartphone connectivity as well.
Powering the Chetak is a 3.8kWh motor mated to a 3kWh battery. Its top speed is limited to 63kmph and 107km (tested), respectively. The Chetak’s battery takes four hours for a full charge. Bajaj claims that it should have a life span of about seven years or 70,000km before it needs replacement.
