- Bajaj Chetak to get a higher riding range
- Will increase to 108km from 90km
- Launch likely to happen soon
Bajaj is slated to launch the updated Chetak electric scooter soon. This e-scooter will churn out a higher riding range, which will likely help the brand sell more scooters.
According to a leaked official document, the riding range of the Chetak will increase from 90km to 108km. These are claimed Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) figures, so the actual numbers will likely differ in real-world conditions.
Interestingly, the Pune-based manufacturer hasn’t increased the battery capacity or played with the power output to achieve this feat. Thus, the brand may have updated the battery management system (BMS) to take out more juice from the batteries.
The Chetak is one of the most expensive EVs in the market, but its riding range still needed to be at par with the likes of Ola, Ather, or TVS. This upcoming Chetak variant could help the brand take away some sales from its rivals, but then that will depend on the pricing. Bajaj could increase the price marginally for this new variant, but it is better to wait for the official pricing to understand the impact of the scooter’s future sales.
