Bajaj Chetak electric scooter- Top 5 highlights

Bajaj recently launched the Chetak in the Indian market. The manufacturer’s first electric two-wheeler gets a host of interesting features which differentiate it from its biggest rivals, the Ather 450 and Okinawa i-Praise. Here we list down the five major highlights of the Bajaj Chetak.

Retro-inspired styling

The Chetak not only borrows its name from the iconic scooter but also draws styling inspiration from it that hits the right nostalgic notes. The electric scooter features a round headlamp, curvy side panels that are reminiscent of the original Chetak. However, to add modernity in its design, the Chetak gets full-LED lighting for the headlamp, tail lamp and turn signals.

Range of 95kms

Bajaj Chetak Engine

The Chetak draws power from a IP67 rated, lithium-ion battery mated to a 3kWH motor. This motor produces 4kW (peak) and 3.8kW (continuous) power along with 16Nm of torque. Moreover, the Chetak offers two modes- Eco and Sport which provide a range of 85kms and 95kms each on a complete charge which can be done in 5 hours using a normal charger. Bajaj is claiming a battery life of 70,000kms and a service interval of 12,000kms.

Bajaj has also equipped the Chetak with features like regenerative braking and Intelligent Braking Management System which controls the charge and discharge of the battery. It also boasts of a round LCD instrument console that is Bluetooth enabled and can be connected to a smartphone via the dedicated app. The instrument cluster not only displays speed, battery range and a service-due indicator but also displays call and text notifications

Two variants

Bajaj Chetak Front Forks

The Chetak is offered in two variants- Urbane and Premium which differentiate themselves with colour options and braking hardware. The Urbane is available in two solid colours and a drum brake as standard. On the other hand, the Premium model is offered in four colour schemes and a disc brake at the front.

Pricing

Bajaj has pegged the Chetak Urbane at Rs 1 lakh and the Premium at Rs 1.15 lakhs. The manufacturer is also offering the scooter with a charging port as standard accessory. The scooter can be booked online for a token amount of Rs 2,000 and deliveries are to begin in Pune and Bangalore by end of January 2020.
