- Bajaj Chetak electric bookings closed
- Entire batch sold out in two days
- Available only in Pune and Bengaluru
Bajaj had recently re-opened bookings for the Chetak electric scooter, after keeping it closed for some time. Interestingly, the brand has now officially announced that the entire batch of the Chetak has been sold out within two days and it has stopped accepting bookings once again. Notably, the company hasn’t disclosed the number of scooters booked during this short period.
Ever since the pandemic struck India last year, Bajaj has been grappling with major supply chain problems for the Chetak and the bookings have consistently been on-off. To tackle this problem, the brand has been working on increasing the degree of localisation for the Chetak. The supply chain issue has also resulted in the Chetak getting pricier. As we had reported last month, the Urbane and Premium versions of the electric scooter had become dearer by Rs 15,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively.
Bajaj has bestowed the Chetak with a retro-inspired design that resembles certain Italian scooters. However, it’s modern on the feature front with full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled console that shows a host of data. It runs on a 3kWh IP67 rated lithium-ion battery that powers a 3.8kW electric motor. The highest achievable top speed is 70kmph while the battery range is claimed to be 95kms in Eco mode.
As of now, the Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is only available only Pune and Bengaluru and its availability might be expanded to other cities in the coming days.
