- Bajaj Chetak electric is available on made-to-order basis
- Will help the brand in avoiding excess inventory
- Currently available for booking in Pune and Bangalore only
Bajaj has re-entered into the scooter segment after a long hiatus with the new Chetak electric. While there has been a lot of curiosity about the scooter amongst the masses, we have now received an interesting detail about its availability. Notably, Bajaj is taking the made-to-order approach with the Chetak by manufacturing only as many units of the scooter as the number of bookings received.
Once the booking for the Chetak has been placed, it will be delivered to the customer within two weeks. The Chakan-based manufacturer is using the made-to-order strategy to avoid surplus inventory as much as possible. Moreover, the company will charge Rs 1000 to the customers upon cancellation of booking as it wants only the genuinely interested buyers to book the scooter.
At present, the Bajaj Chetak is available for booking only in Pune and Bangalore and deliveries in these cities will commence by the end of February. Bajaj will launch the e-scooter in other cities across India in a phased manner.
The Chetak is available in two variants including Urbane and Premium. It boasts of a retro-inspired styling with smooth flowing lines. The e-scooter is also loaded with modern features such as a comprehensive fully-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and full-LED lighting. The company claims it delivers a range of 85kms and 95kms depending on the selected mode from Eco and Sport, respectively. The Chetak can achieve a maximum speed of 60kmph.
