Bajaj Auto has registered the Chetak brand name in Europe. The details about trademark were published on European Union Intellectual Property Office’s (EUIPO) website. The trademark was registered on 29 February 2020 and it is valid until 4 November 2029.
The Chetak trademark, as mentioned on EUIPO’s website, can be used on automobiles, land vehicles, two-wheelers, motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, electric vehicles, engines and electric motors for motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers and four-wheelers, parts and components thereof.
The details about the European launch of the Chetak electric scooter are scarce, although we may see the exports commence by next year. The platform of the retro-style, Made-in-India electric scooter will also be used by KTM and Husqvarna to build their respective electric scooters. The KTM and Husqvarna branded electric scooters may feature different styling and a more powerful engine.
Back home, Bajaj Auto offers the Chetak electric scooter in two variants – Urbane and Premium. The Urbane model is available at Rs 1.12 lakh while the Premium version, which comes equipped with a front disc brake as standard, is sold at Rs 1.29 lakh.
The electric scooter uses a 3kWh motor that produces 16Nm of torque. The electric engine draws power from an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery pack that promises a maximum range of 95km per charge. The feature list on the Chetak electric scooter comprises of full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, regenerative braking, Intelligent Braking Management and two riding modes.
