Bajaj claims that overall sales of the Discover have managed to top those of the Hero MotoCorp Splendor, making it the highest-selling motorcycle in the world by way of sales numbers. Hero MotoCorp has said that its Splendor brand remains at the top.
Splendor sales have fallen this fiscal, and Discover sales have only been rising. Bajaj Auto claims it has sold 122,968 Discovers in September this year, and 121,018 Splendors have been sold in the same month. This is in stark contrast to April, when the Splendor models sold 244,683 units compared to the Discover range's 101,962 units.
The Splendor has been invincible for the past decade; could it be that the Discover has finally managed to dethrone it? Hero MotoCorp says that it is on course to sell more than two million Splendors this fiscal, and there are good chances of exceeding that figure thanks to the new export markets.
