- To be launched on 5 July
- Likely to feature a petrol and CNG setup
- Seems to get a simple commuter styling
Bajaj Auto is set to take the veils off the first-ever mass-production CNG motorcycle. The brand has slated its launch for 5 July, just a few weeks away. The bike has been spotted on a test run again and here is what we know about it.
The upcoming Bajaj CNG bike will be a mass-market product catering to the commuter category, likely in the 100-125cc segment. This means it will be a thoroughbred commuter with a simple and purposeful design, just like we see here in the spy shots. That said, we came across some design images recently which revealed the overall structure too.
Bajaj will equip its upcoming motorcycle with a conventional petrol tank and a CNG cylinder below it. The latter is likely to be held by circular braces attached to the main frame. However, the engine details and the power figures are yet to be revealed. Considering the previous spy images, the odds of Bajaj offering not one but two CNG motorcycle variants are high. One could be a slightly rugged trim with handlebar guards, block pattern tyres, handlebar brace, and more. Meanwhile, the other variant would be a more simple-looking bike with a small headlight cowl and altered stance.
It would also be quite interesting to see how the CNG refuelling system works out for the Bajaj CNG bike. Will the bikes have to stand in the same line as the cars and the auto-rickshaws, or will there be a separate queue for the CNG two-wheelers? These and quite a few more questions are expected to be answered as the first-ever CNG bike debuts.
