More than a year after the motorcycle was launched abroad, Bajaj is continuing the testing of the Pulsar 150NS in India. Envisaged to be the successor to the popular Pulsar 150 DTS-i, the Pulsar 150NS has so far dodged the Indian market. However, a new spy video uploaded on YouTube shows the motorcycle undergoing trials on the Mumbai-Pune highway, hinting at a possible launch in the near future.
The Bajaj Pulsar 150NS has made a good impact in the global market, with export numbers breaching the 20,000 mark. The Pulsar 150 DTS-i happens to be one of Bajaj's cash cows in India and introducing the Pulsar 150NS might lead to cannibalism within the brand. This probably has so far kept Bajaj from launching the bike in India. The Pulsar 150NS is powered by a 149cc twin-spark engine, which churns out 16.8bhp and 13Nm of torque. This engine dwells in a revised version of the Pulsar 200NS’ perimeter frame with a slimmer rear subframe, to suit the smaller tyre. Apart from this subframe, most of the components have been straightaway lifted from the Pulsar 200NS parts bin.
In India, the Pulsar 150NS will compete with other premium 150cc commuter motorcycles like the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S version 2.0 and the Hero Xtreme Sports.
