After focusing on the mass market commuter segment with the Platina ES100, the company has shifted its focus to launch the new Pulsars starting from this month. While the company is still tight-lipped about the Pulsar AS200, a camouflaged test mule has been spied testing in Pune city.
Based on the Pulsar NS200 platform, the Pulsar AS200 is more of a touring version of the naked motorcycle. Majority of the components on the AS200 is from its naked-sibling – a way to keep costs in check, but there are few changes that make it look slightly different. The major addition is the introduction of semi-fairing that reminds us of the Pulsar 220F. The AS200 also gets a bigger front visor, which will help during long distance touring by reducing wind-blast. However, the tail section of the Pulsar AS200 is different from the ones seen on the Pulsar NS200. Instead of the aluminium number plate holder, the AS200 gets a basic holder which is integrated in the rear mud-guard.
Mechanically, we are expecting the Bajaj Pulsar AS200 to remain unchanged. It will continue to get the 199.5cc liquid-cooled engine from the Pulsar NS200. This engine churns out 23bhp and 18.3Nm of peak power and is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Bajaj Motorcycles will be launching the Pulsar SS200 this month. The Pune-based manufacturer will continue to launch new products for the next five months and we can expect the Pulsar AS200 to be a part of this.
