The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 has been spotted during one of its trial runs near Pune, Maharashtra. While the concept unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo was quite avantgarde, this prototype featured a mellowed-down design, which seems like a step taken to make the final production model more budget friendly.
The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 gets a very aggressive stance with a stretched out wheelbase, low set handlebars and a muscular fuel tank. A majority of styling elements like the headlamp, stubby exhaust, alloy wheels and the tail section have been retained from the concept. The Pulsar CS400 is built around a majorly reworked version of the perimeter frame borrowed from the Pulsar AS200. The front wheel rides on conventional telescopic forks (in place of the concept’s USD units) while the rear gets a swingarm-linked monoshock.
The Bajaj Pulsar CS400 will be powered by an upgraded version of the same single-cylinder unit from the Pulsar AS200 and the Pulsar RS200. Displacing 375cc, this liquid-cooled unit is expected to produce somewhere around 40bhp. Until a bigger and more powerful version of Pulsar RS200 comes along, the Pulsar CS400 will be the most powerful motorcycle in Bajaj’s line-up. It will compete with the Mahindra Mojo and the Royal Enfield Classic 350. We can expect the Pulsar CS400 to be launched in the next couple of months.
