Bajaj could launch electric two-wheeler by 2020

There’s finally some news about the electric vehicle coming from Bajaj. The company’s CEO, Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that the company will launch at an electric two-wheeler in India by 2020. 

This development was confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj in an interview to CNBC. The top-honcho, however, didn’t reveal if it will be a scooter or a motorcycle. According to Rajiv Bajaj, 2020 is a good time to introduce an electric two-wheeler in India as the country will move towards BS-VI emission norms. The vehicles are bound to get costlier due to the new technologies that will be used in BS-VI vehicle. 

Last year, Rajiv Bajaj had talked about setting up a new brand called Urbanite for its electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Unfortunately, there have been no updates on the development of this brand from the company.
