Bajaj recently launched the CT 125X in India as its latest 125cc offering in the commuter range. Now, the said segment has quite a few popular names that the CT125X will compete against and the Honda Shine is one of them. So we’ve faired the two bikes on paper and here’s the result.
Design
Bajaj has designed the Ct125X to be a tad more suitable for rugged usage with its slim body work. It has a round bulb headlight with a guard and an LED strip integrated into the headlight cowl. Bajaj has also equipped it wit a rear luggage rack and a belly pan for added protection. Meanwhile, the Honda Shine follows a more family-friendly and comparatively muscular design language than the CT. Honda offers a halogen setup throughout for its 125cc offering.
Features
Considering both bikes are aimed at the mass market with the price being a key factory, the features list is pretty short. You get an analog instrument console on both bikes along with bulb illumination. But the CT125X scores extra points with the USB charger and LED DRLs that the Shines misses out.
Engine
Bajaj has plonked in a 125cc air-cooled motor in the CT125X. It dishes out 10bhp and 11Nm and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the Honda Shine houses a 123.9cc single-cylinder engine with the output rated at 10.59bhp and 11Nm. It too uses a five-speed gearbox.
Hardware
The Bajaj CT125X rides on gaitered telescopic forks and dual rear shocks. Its braking hardware comprises of an options of a 130mm drum or a 24mm disc at the front with a 130mm rear drum with CBS. The setup is mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 80/100 front and 100/90 rear tyres. The Shine is equipped with telescopic forks and dual rear springs. Its braking hardware is similar to the C125X’s but the Shine gets larger 18-inch wheels. These should offer a tad more stability.
Price
The asking price for the CT125X starts at Rs 74,554 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Shine retails at Rs 77,378 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards. The latter cost about Rs 2,800 more.
