Close on the heels of Hero MotoCorp unveiling its grand line-up, we have Bajaj Auto making an announcement of their own. Bajaj is about to launch their new Discover platform on October 15. A website happens to have released a few images of what looks like the Discover 100M. Though nothing is confirmed as yet.
For the base drum variant of the Discover 100M, one could probably expect a price close to Rs45,000 (ex-showroom Pune).Reports suggest the Discover 100M will be powered by a four-stroke single-cylinder, air-cooled 102cc mill churning out a fairly good 9.2bhp with a maximum torque of 0.92kgm. It is believed to have a four-valved head and corrugated fins for cooling. At the front the bike gets standard telescopic fork suspension and dual gas-charged (Nitrox) shock at the rear.
Bajaj has been posting high sales numbers with the introduction of the Discover 100 4G and 100T. But with the inclusion of the new Discover 100M, it clearly shows that the company wants to get a bigger bite into the mass market, where Hero MotoCorp is leading with their Splendor brand. The Pune-based manufacturer is following the formula of ‘more products will increase sales and market shares.’ It’s also likely that the company will launch the disc brake variant of this motorcycle as well. If launched, it will be pitted against Hero’s Splendor Plus.
