- Bajaj confirms the launch of the Dominar 250
- Media rides to be conducted in March
- Likely to be priced between Rs 1.5-1.7 lakhs
With an aim to make the Dominar brand more accessible to the masses, Bajaj is all set to introduce a smaller 250cc version of its flagship touring motorcycle. According to an invite we have received from the company, it will be conducting the media rides of the Dominar 250 in March. Meanwhile, the official launch of the motorcycle could take place by the end of March of early April.
Bajaj was spotted testing the Dominar 250 in January 2020. The spy images of the motorcycle had revealed a few details about its cycle parts and styling. The overall design of the bike remains identical to its larger 400cc sibling with the same beefy fuel tank and angular extensions, split seat, two-piece grab rail, and a split-type LED tail lamp integrated in the stubby rear end.
Where the Dominar 250 differs from its larger sibling is in the hardware department. Going by the spy images, it is equipped with a skinnier rear tyre along with a more conventional box-type swingarm. However, the upside down front forks, rear monoshock and braking hardware could remain closely similar to the Dominar 400.
As for the engine of the Dominar 250, it’s no brainer that it will be powered by the same motor which does duty on the KTM 250 Duke and the Husqvarna 250cc twins. Notably, Bajaj has already been using the KTM 390 Duke’s platform for the Dominar 400. The 248.7cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine of the Duke 250 produces 29.6bhp and 24Nm and we expect the power figures to be similar for the Dominar 250 as well. The transmission duties will be continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox.
As for the pricing of the Dominar 250, there’s confirmation on that front as of now. However, we expect it to be in the ballpark of Rs 1.5-1.7 lakhs (ex-showroom).
