Bajaj sold 3,000 units of the Dominar 400 in January 2017. While this figure is a far cry from the company’s target of 10,000 units a month, it is still a good number for an offbeat and performance-focussed motorcycle.
During the launch, Bajaj had announced a very optimistic target of selling 10,000 units of the Domianr 400 every month. Considering that the Dominar 400’s rival, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 clocks over 35,000 units a month, the target doesn’t seem unachievable. While the Classic 350 enthralled the audience with its old-school charm and the brand’s legacy, Bajaj is betting on the lucrative price tag and creature comforts to draw customers.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is being promoted as a power cruiser. Featuring a KTM-derived 373cc single-cylinder engine, LED headlamps and an optional ABS, the Dominar 400 retails at a lucrative price tag of Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, it remains to be seen whether these would be enough to help the Dominar 400 achieve its target. We recently pitted the Dominar 400 against its rival the Classic 350, you can read the comparison test here.
