Bajaj Auto’s latest offering, the Freedom 125 CNG bike, has become the talk of the town in just a few days after its debut. It is not only Bajaj’s but also the world’s first mass-production CNG two-wheeler. If you too are smitten by it and want to purchase one, then here are some of the things you should know.
Compact Design
From the spy shots to the final product, it's evident that the Freedom 125 CNG bike gets a proper commuter-style design with a dash of youthfulness and compact proportions all over. It is a 125cc motorcycle and gets a textbook build with its simple styling that comprises elements like a round headlight (LED for top spec and mid-model, and bulb for the base model), a long single-piece seat, and an upright rider triangle.
Decent features
Bajaj has offered the Freedom 125 with LED illumination for the Disc LED and Drum LED models, while the base trim uses a halogen bulb. Moreover, the Disc LED trim also gets a reverse LCD with smartphone connectivity whereas the remaining two get an LCD sans any connectivity features. All variants of the Freedom 125 get CBS for its safety net. Not to mention, it has a switch to shift from petrol to CNG and vice versa as well.
Engine
Powering the Freedom 125 is a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It develops 9.37bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm and gets a five-speed gearbox. Bajaj claims that the Freedom 125 can clock about 330km in a go with its 2-litre petrol tank and 2kg CNG cylinder. But we will put it to a real-world test very soon.
Hardware
Its hardware includes conventional telescopic front forks and a monoshock. Even the 17-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels are common throughout the range but the base model uses an 80/90 front and 80/100 rear tyre Disc LED and Drum LED variants get a 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres/. Only the top-spec variant of the Freedom 125 CNG bike gets a front disc and rear drum brake setup whereas the remaining two use drum brakes at both ends.
Variants and Price
The asking price for the Bajaj Freedom 125 is Rs. 95,000 for the Drum model. Further, the Drum LED and Disc LED are priced at Rs. 1.05 lakh and Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
