- Base variant gets a price cut of Rs. 5,000
- Mid-spec model’s price reduced by Rs. 10,000
Bajaj Auto has announced a price cut on India’s first CNG motorcycle, the Freedom 125. The bike's price has been reduced by up to Rs. 10,000, depending on the variant.
The base variant and mid-spec drum LED version of the Bajaj Freedom have received a price cut of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000, respectively. This has resulted in an effective price of Rs. 89,997 (ex-showroom) for the base model and Rs. 95,002 (ex-showroom) for the drum LED variant. That said, the cost of the top-spec version has remained unchanged at Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Bajaj Freedom 125 is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled sloper engine that produces 9.3bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 9.7Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is underpinned by a trellis frame, with the CNG tank housed inside the rear sub-frame.
Despite being a CNG bike, the Freedom 125 can run on CNG as well as petrol. Riders can switch between the fuel options via a toggle switch on the handlebar. The key USP of the motorcycle, of course, is the lower running costs. The Freedom delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 102km/kg in CNG mode, and 65kmpl when running on petrol.
