Bajaj’s most innovative motorcycle – the Freedom was launched a few days ago at Rs 95,000. This motorcycle has not only created a lot of buzz but has also made a few two-wheeler brands nervous. The combination of CNG and petrol on this motorcycle will drastically bring down the running costs of the bike.
In the last few stories, we told you everything about the bike – specs, features, variants and even colours. But in this article, we break down the overall fuel efficiency of the Freedom in CNG and petrol modes.
Bajaj has claimed an ARAI fuel efficiency of 101km per kg of CNG gas. In the petrol mode, the bike has a claimed riding range of 65km per litre. So with 2kg of CNG gas, the rider will be able to ride for around 202kms and with the petrol engine, the bike can be ridden for another 130kms. So when both the riding ranges are combined, the Bajaj Freedom has an overall claimed riding range of close to 330 km. However, this figure may vary based on the condition of the roads (uphill sections) and also the condition of the bike like the tyre pressure or whether the chain is properly lubed.
Bajaj claims that in the internal tests they have done, the fuel efficiency numbers are much higher, but legally, they aren’t allowed to quote these figures. As of now, it is claimed that the running cost of Freedom is a little over Rs 1 per km in the majority of the states. But due to the dynamic pricing of our fuels, the running costs will change every few weeks.
