-First bike delivered in Pune
-Bookings open across India
-Available in three variants
Deliveries of the Bajaj Freedom CNG motorcycle have begun. The first motorcycle was delivered to a customer in Pune. While announcing the commencement of deliveries, Bajaj has also stated that bookings for the Freedom CNG bike have been thrown open across India. That said, at the time of launch, the company said that the bike will be initially available in Maharashtra and Gujarat only.
The Bajaj Freedom is the world’s first CNG motorcycle. It has a 2kg CNG tank, nestled inside a trellis frame that also acts as a cage to protect the tank from impacts. In our road test, we found out that the bike can cover 104km in a kilogram of CNG. That said the CNG pressure at the pump will have a bearing on the fuel efficiency as the amount of CNG that will go in the tank will vary as per the pressure.
The bike is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 9.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine is linked to a five-speed gearbox.
The styling of the bike is quite unique and that is something that commuter motorcycle riders will appreciate. Bajaj has blended form and function very well with the bike's design. As for features, it gets an LED headlight and tail light while the top variant gets a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
As we’ve mentioned, the bike has a steel trellis frame and it is suspended by a telescopic fork and a link type monoshock. The bike rides on a 17-inch front wheel and 16-inch rear wheel. The top variant has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The base variant, however, has a drum brake at the front as well.
The Bajaj Freedom goes up against bikes like the Honda Shine 125, Hero Xtreme 125 and TVS Raider 125.
