The Bajaj Freedom CNG motorcycle seems to be creating waves in the Indian two-wheeler market. And it makes sense since it is the first-ever mass-market two-wheeler that runs on compressed gas.
However, with all the hype and attention, it is also worth mentioning that Freedom is already in high demand. Bajaj is currently offering it in only a handful of regions – Mumbai, Pune, and select cities in Gujarat. So, we reached out to various dealers across the places mentioned above and here is how long you will have to wait for the Freedom as per the city/state.
City/State | Mumbai | Pune | Gujarat |
Waiting Period | 20-30 days | 30-45 days | 45 days and more or 3 months |
While Mumbai has the least waiting period, we feel 20 days is still a stretch for a vehicle that will be catering to the mass market and should be available in large numbers. Moreover, the Bajaj Freedom CNG bike is a 125cc motorcycle and the said segment is known to witness high-volume sales. Bajaj has limited the availability of Freedom as we mentioned above, and it could also be working on increasing the production to reduce waiting periods.
We tested the bike recently and were quite impressed with certain aspects. The Freedom offers premium build quality, rides like a 125cc pure-petrol motorcycle and is convenient to commute on. Moreover, the practicality quotient is also quite high with its fuel efficiency, build and features. The availability of CNG in cities is also not a cause for concern but the perpetually long waiting times may be bothersome for some.
There are a few more questions that we think a buyer should ask before purchasing the Bajaj Freedom. We have listed all of them in our first ride review of the Bajaj Freedom.
