The Bajaj V15 has been launched in India at Rs 63,160 (ex-showroom, Pune). A few Bajaj dealers have started accepting bookings of the motorcycle for a token of Rs 1,000, though deliveries will commence only in the first week of March.
Positioned between the Discover 150F and the Pulsar 150 DTS-i, the V15 is the first model in the ‘V’ range of commuter motorcycles. Aesthetically, Bajaj has taken a completely different approach with the V15. The sculpted fuel tank, side panels, chrome-rimmed headlamp and tail lamp attempt to give the V15 a neo retro look. However, the handlebar and the neutral set footpegs give it a more commuter-oriented approach. The frame and fork bottles are painted in black, while the engine and rear panels gets a brushed silver finish. One of the unique features of the V15 is the removable rear cowl, which can convert the bike into a trendy single seater. The analogue instrument cluster gets a basic and minimalistic design.
At the heart of the Bajaj V15 is a 150cc single-cylinder DTS-i engine. This engine delivers 12bhp and 13Nm of torque through a five-speed transmission. The 18-inch front wheel rides on conventional 33mm telescopic front forks while the 16-inch rear wheel rides on dual springs. The V15 gets disc brake at the front and a drum unit in the rear.
The ex-showroom price of the Bajaj V15 includes an accessory pack which includes the detachable rear seat cowl and the grab rails. The V15 is available in two paint schemes – pearl white and ebony black. It competes with other 150cc commuter bikes like the Hero Hunk and the Yamaha SZ-RR.
