Bajaj has announced that is able to meet consumer’s demands despite no signs of the month-long strike at their Chakan plant cooling down. They have said that they had managed to reach the required targets until Monday (July 22). Bajaj manufactures the KTM, Pulsar and Avenger motorcycles at the Chakan plant.
The strike will complete a month tomorrow and the company has lost more than 20,000 units in production but clarified that the consumer demands won’t be affected as they have inventory for four to five weeks. It has managed to increase the output to 2.6 motorcycles a week with little more than half of its total workers workforce. Bajaj has moved one-third of its production of the Chakan plant to Aurangabad facility.
Over 1500 workers from the plant have been a part of this strike and have been demanding revision in their wage and also to allot 500 equity shares to each worker at a price of Rs 1 per share.
“Today, 757 workers have reported to work and we will produce 2,000 vehicles at Chakan and 1,100 Pulsars at Waluj; 100 per cent (Chakan and Waluj) of our requirement of all brands of the Pulsar, Avenger and KTM is achieved,”said company in a statement.
