Bajaj is on a roll. First it was bringing the manufacturing of smaller Husqvarnas to India, followed by the announcement of its alliance with Triumph. And now, there’s a report about Bajaj’s intention of developing a new retail brand.
Codename ‘Urbanite’, this new retail brand is rumoured to have aspirational and lifestyle products by 2020. It is also said that this new brand is primarily being developed for its electric-two wheelers. Unfortunately, there aren’t much details on this development right now.
While it makes sense for the company to have a new brand for its EV business, selling Husqvarnas through this retail network also makes sense because the products are quite different from what we have in the market. So making the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 part of this new lifestyle and aspirational brand does add a lot of brand and marketing sense. Currently, Bajaj sells its bikes through two retail outlets – one is where all Bajaj bikes are sold, and the second is KTM probiking showrooms.
We contacted Bajaj to know more about this new retail brand, but the company decided to keep mum.
