Bajaj Platina 100 BS6: Top highlights

Bajaj Auto has updated its product portfolio with the launch of the BS6 compliant Platina 100. The commuter motorcycle has received subtle styling tweaks and an updated motor with the BS6 transition. Here we list the top highlights of the Platina 100 BS6.

Design

The overall silhouette of the 100cc commuter motorcycle is carried forward from the BS4 model. Thus, you would see a very familiar styling on the Platina 100 BS6. There are, however, a few changes that distinguish the new model from the old vehicle. The windscreen, for example, now features a tinted finish instead of the colour-matched cowl on its predecessor. The LED DRL has been moved closer to the headlamp which looks neater than the BS4 motorcycle. Bajaj has also updated the seat cover design on the Platina 100 BS6, and the motorcycle now gets a ribbed-pattern that is borrowed from the premium Platina 110 H-Gear.

The Platina 100 BS6 is available in two variants and colour options. The variant list includes Kick Start and Electric Start versions while the paint options comprise of Black and Red colours.

Engine

The BS6-compliant Platina 100 comes with a 102cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.7bhp of power and 8.34Nm of torque. The motor is linked to a four-speed gearbox. In comparison, the BS4 iteration of the motorcycle delivered a marginally higher 8.1bhp of power and 8.6Nm of torque. The top speed of the motorcycle is rated at 90kmph (as tested and reported by Bajaj Auto).

Cycle Parts

The Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 retains the cycle parts from its predecessor. Thus, shock absorption tasks are handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided SNS suspension at the back. Bajaj claims that the Platina 100 features 28% and 22% more suspension travel at the front and the back respectively than other 100cc commuter motorcycles. The company states that the setup delivers maximum comfort to the rider.

Braking setup comprises of a 130mm drum at the front and a 110mm drum at the back. The safety net is provided by the Combi Brake System (CBS).
