The Bajaj Pulsar 150AS has been spotted testing in Lonavala, near Pune. While the test mule looks identical to the Puslar 200AS, the lack of a radiator at the front and skinnier tyres indicate that this is its smaller 150cc sibling, the Pulsar 150AS.
Like Pulsar 200NS and the new Pulsar RS200, this new ‘Adventure Sport’ motorcycle is based on a perimeter frame. This perimeter frame might add a few kilograms to the motorcycle’s weight, though we can safely expect a marginal improvement in riding dynamics. It is expected to be powered by a revised version of the existing air-cooled DTS-i engine, which will be tuned to extract better efficiency and performance.
To aid the touring ability of the motorcycle, the Pulsar 150AS will get a tall windscreen and projector headlamps. The semi-fairing not only improves the aesthetic appeal of the Pulsar 150AS, but also improves the air flow around the motorcycle thanks to the reduced drag coefficient.
It seems like Bajaj is planning to rejig its entire line-up with the slew of new motorcycle launches, in the next few months. The Pulsar 150AS will be positioned between the Pulsar 200NS and the upcoming Pulsar 150NS. It will rival other faired 150cc commuter motorcycles like the Yamaha Fazer Version 2.0 and the Suzuki Gixxer SF.
