Just a few days after the Bajaj Pulsar 400SS was photographed at the factory, some new spy pictures of its younger sibling, the Pulsar 200SS, have been put up on a social networking website. These new pictures also seem to be taken at some warehouse, and show the motorcycle without any camouflage and in its full glory.
The photos show that the Pulsar 200SS has retained a major part of the styling of the original Pulsar 400SS concept that had fascinated us at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The Bajaj Pulsar SS200 will be largely based on its naked sibling, the Pulsar NS200, and will be powered by the same 199.5cc engine which produces 23bhp and 18Nm of torque. Owing to its supersports nature, we expect Bajaj to alter the steering rake and make other minor adjustments to the chassis.
The Bajaj SS200 will get an aggressively sculpted fuel tank and fairing, dual headlamps, clip-on handlebar and split seats, which will be shared with the Pulsar SS400. As ABS isn’t offered in either the Pulsar 200NS or the KTM RC200, we think that it is very unlikely that Bajaj will offer it in the Pulsar 200SS.
In keeping with Bajaj’s tradition, we expect the Pune-based manufacturer to price both the Pulsar 200SS and the Pulsar 400SS very competitively. While rumours suggest that the Pulsar 200SS will be introduced in India early next year, the company has refused to divulge details about the launch. We expect the Pulsar 200SS to be priced around Rs 25,000 more than its naked sibling, the Pulsar 200NS.
