For the past few days the internet has been abuzz with spy pictures of the Pulsar 200SS and the Pulsar 400SS. The latest spy shots have come from Colombia, where the motorcycle was spotted undergoing trials without any camouflage.
The spy shots show that for the Pulsar 200SS, Bajaj has stuck with the original design of the Pulsar 400SS, which was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The Pulsar 200SS will be largely based on its naked sibling, the Pulsar 200NS, though owing to its supersports nature, we expect Bajaj to tinker with the steering rake and make other adjustments to the chassis.
It will be powered by the same 199.5cc engine which produces 23bhp and 18Nm of torque. Though reports suggest that the engine will get fuel-injection, Bajaj hasn’t confirmed it yet. As ABS isn’t offered in either the Pulsar 200NS or the KTM RC200, we think that it is very unlikely that Bajaj will offer it in the Pulsar 200SS for the Indian market.
As of now, we know that Bajaj will offer the Pulsar 200SS in four two-tone paint schemes – blue/white, red/white, yellow/white and black. While rumours suggest that the Pulsar 200SS will be introduced in India early next year, the Pune-based manufacturer hasn’t confirmed a launch date for the motorcycle yet. We expect the Pulsar 200SS to be priced around Rs 25,000 more than its naked sibling, the Pulsar 200NS.
