As many fans and enthusiasts in India await the launch of Bajaj Pulsar SS400, our friends at Power Drift have snapped the much-awaited offering from Bajaj. The test mule was spotted testing in Pune.
The Pulsar SS400 has been rumoured to be ready for an India launch for quite some time. Now, Bajaj's first fully faired bike, which made several appearances on the internet through leaked details and images, is out on the Indian streets for testing.
The Pulsar SS400 is based on the same single-cylinder engine platform as the KTM Duke 390. The 375cc engine will be reworked to give the Pulsar SS400 its own unique character. The Pulsar SS400 will be powered by a four-valve liquid-cooled engine that will produce less power than the Duke 390. This will help Bajaj-KTM to maintain a sizeable distance between the two bikes. The motor will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Bajaj Motorcycles has announced that the SS400 will be part of Bajaj’s super sport family which will include fully-faired motorcycles. The manufacturer unveiled the motorcycle at the Auto Expo, in February, this year. Though Bajaj Auto is still mum on the launch of the motorcycle in India, we expect the bike to arrive in the Indian market around June-July this year along with the rumoured small sibling, the Pulsar SS200.
Edit: Here is another image that has popped up on the internet making people speculate that the SS400 has already reached the dealerships. The image quality is pretty bad making us believe that the black colour seen here is not the actual paint scheme. It looks more of a photoshop job. However, the Pulsar SS400 will be sold with vibrant colours like yellow, red and blue. We are eagerly waiting for Bajaj Motorcycles to officially announce the launch dates of this bike in India.
