This news comes as a big surprise to us. Bajaj Motorcycles has unveiled the Pulsar AS200 that is based on the Pulsar NS200. Along with the AS200, Bajaj also showcased the Pulsar SS200 to selected number of people at their testing track at Chakan.
What’s surprising is that Bajaj didn’t even give us a clue that an adventure sport variant of their most successful Pulsar, till date, was under development. The major change on the Pulsar AS200 is the introduction of the half fairing, which we see on the Pulsar 220F. Along with this, the Pulsar AS200 gets a new headlamp assembly that sports a projector light. The company has given the bike a big windscreen - a very important component to deflect wind in adventure touring motorcycles. The Pune-based manufacturer has given a small “Adventure Sport” decal on the front of the half fairing. Other than this, the Pulsar AS200 continues to carry the same components from its naked sibling.
We still don’t have any details on the mechanical front, but we are not expecting Bajaj to tweak the 199.5cc single cylinder engine for better torque figures. One of the reasons Bajaj has introduced this model is because of enthusiasts liking towards the faired bike. The Pulsar 220F is one good example, when we talk about faired bikes. We can expect the Pulsar AS200 to make its way to India soon, but with a slight increase in the price.
