While the world has been speculating that Bajaj has secretly unveiled the Pulsar AS200 in Indonesia, the new pictures hint that the new motorcycle was showcased at the company's test track in Pune itself. The leaked pictures give out some more details of the bike.
The Bajaj Pulsar AS200 is a derivative of the Pulsar NS200 and sports a small fairing like the Pulsar 220. Named as the 'Adventure Sport', the bike seems to get a long travel front suspension giving it a nice and upright riding position. The motorcycle is based on the same platform as the NS200 and borrows traits from the naked motorcycle. The headlamp housing is the same but features a projector headlamp. The registration plate holder from the NS200 is replaced by the rear mudguard borrowed from the other Pulsars.
The Pulsar AS200 will be powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill from the NS200 that produces 24bhp of power and 18.3Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The presence of the fuel on-off knob hints that the AS200 is a carburetted version.
The appearance of the AS200 came as a surprise to everyone as Bajaj Auto never hinted the development of such a motorcycle. They confirmed that they will launch six new products and one product every month this year. We hope the AS200 is also a part of this launch plan as the motorcycle looks promising enough to be a tourer if not a hard-core off-roader. Stay tuned to BikeWale as more details will emerge soon.
