Bajaj Pulsar 150 continues to rule the segment for many years. Its attractive price tag coupled with good power made it the highest selling Pulsar for Bajaj. But it looks like Bajaj wants to have a bigger share of the pie and decided to launch a far more affordable version, the Pulsar Classic 150. This motorcycle will take on one of the Honda’s most accomplished bikes, the CB Unicorn 150. We take a look at how these bikes stack up against each other on paper.
Design & Features
Both the bikes are known for its no-nonsense design approach. The Pulsar 150 leans towards a bulky and brawny stance, whereas the CB Unicorn 150 has a sober and traditional styling. The Bajaj uses a bulky fascia which has a big headlamp unit and a large windscreen. The Classic 150 has done away with the tank shrouds and the decals, which makes it slightly boring to look at. The CB Unicorn 150 is known for its conservative styling. That attribute is so strong that Honda was forced to bring the bike back from hibernation.
Engine
The Pulsar Classic 150 and the CB Unicorn 150 are both powered by a 150cc air-cooled single-cylinder motorcycle, but their power outputs vary. The Bajaj produces 13.5bhp at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 13.4Nm at 6000rpm. The CB Unicorn is less powerful at 12.73bhp at 8000rpm with a peak torque of 12.80Nm at 5500rpm. Both get a five-speed gearbox.
Cycle Parts
Both the bikes ride on telescopic front forks. But at the rear, the Honda runs a monoshock whereas the Bajaj gets dual shocks. Both get discs at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The instrument cluster on both bikes are fairly dated.
Pricing
The Bajaj Pulsar Classic 350 is priced at Rs 67,437 (ex-showroom Mumbai), whereas the Honda CB Unicorn 150 demands a premium at Rs 73,029 (ex-showroom Mumbai).
