The production model of the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 is going to be christened the Pulsar VS400. This has been confirmed thanks to an ARAI compliance certificate leaked by an Indian media house, which also reveals the power figure of the sports cruiser.
The certificate reveals that the Bajaj Pulsar VS400 will be powered by a 373.2cc engine. Though this engine shares its architecture and displacement with the KTM Duke 390’s engine, Bajaj seems to have detuned it to match the Pulsar VS400’s character. While the Duke 390 churns out 44bhp, the Pulsar VS400’s motor has been restricted to 34.5bhp.
This is not the first time that Bajaj has made last minute changes while naming their products. The Pulsar RS range had made its debut as the ‘Pulsar SS400’ at the 2014 Auto Expo, though the company later decided to launch it as a ‘race sport’ model. The Pulsar CS400 was supposed to stand for ‘cruiser sports’, though the comapny has refused to comment on the reason behind this change in nomenclature.
