Just a couple of days ago, we talked about Bajaj’s interest in launching a product that will compete with the Royal Enfield. And now, we’ve pictures of the Pulsar CS400 being tested on the Indian roads.
This Pulsar CS400 prototype was heavily camouflaged and was being tested close to Pune. While these set of images are slightly blurred, it’s clear that there are a couple of changes done on the prototypes as compared to the concept shown at 2014 Auto Expo. Instead of the upside-down forks which we saw on the concept model, the spied test mule sports the regular telescopic front forks. The spied test mule was equipped with a split seat, instead of a single piece seen on the concept model. Rest most of the components are from the concept, however, we won’t be surprised to see some more exclusions to keep costs in check.
Once launched, the CS400 will be the most powerful Bajaj motorcycle and will compete in the growing 250cc and above space, where Royal Enfield is the leader. Being marketed as cruiser sports (CS 400), this motorcycle has taken some design inspiration from the Ducati Diavel. Tank mounted instrument cluster, followed by a relaxed riding position and beautiful alloy wheels are some of the traits seen on the Italian power cruiser.
We’re expecting Bajaj to launch the CS400 within this year at a price tag that will attract a lot of enthusiasts. Stay tuned!
