-Sporty design and new blue colour seen
-Rivals the TVS Raider and the Hero Xtreme 125R
-Expected to be priced around Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 95,000
The Bajaj Pulsar N125 has been spotted testing rigorously on a few occasions, in and around Pune. It will be Bajaj’s new contender in the premium 125cc space that’s growing quite rapidly. At present, the TVS Raider rules the roost in the segment, followed by the Hero Xtreme 125R which is also setting the sales charts on fire. Bajaj is hoping to make inroads into this segment and going by the pictures of the Pulsar N125 test mules, it seems to have benchmarked the competition well.
Design and features
The design of the bike appears to be sporty and Bajaj seems to be aware of the importance of ensuring the bike has a good road presence. This is quite evident in the size and shape of the fuel tank and the tank extensions that extend beyond the fork. The headlight cowl also appears to be large and the front end of the Pulsar N125 should have an imposing presence for a 125cc bike.
The side panels have a sharp, upswept crease line that flows seamlessly towards the tail section. This side section of the test bike is sans camouflage, revealing the new blue colour that the N125 may get along with perhaps three more colour options.
As for the features, we expect the bike to get an LED headlight and taillight. The instrument cluster would most likely be a digital unit with Bluetooth connectivity.
Ergonomics
The test rider is seated in a pretty comfortable position, going by these images. The handlebar is set high and the footpegs are in a neutral position. Even the rider’s perch looks wide and long, and despite a split seat setup, there seems to be enough room for a pillion to sit comfortably.
Engine
The details about the engine are scarce at the moment but word is that Bajaj may employ a downsized version of the Pulsar N150’s engine. This engine is known for its refinement, rideability and fuel efficiency. Carrying forward these attributes to the 125cc engine would help the N125’s case.
Also visible is an underbelly exhaust and we expect Bajaj to tune it in such a way that it sounds sporty, on the lines of the TVS Raider.
Hardware
Under the bodywork, we could see the Pulsar N125 use a frame similar to what the Pulsar N150 uses. The frame is suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. The test bike seen here is riding on 17-inch alloy wheels while braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
Price
Pricing will be a key aspect of the Pulsar N125 and we won’t be surprised if Bajaj undercuts the competition. We could see the starting price to hover between Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 95,000, ex-showroom.
