Bajaj Auto recently launched a new 125cc motorcycle the Pulsar N125. It sits in the premium category and rivals the TVS Raider 125. We have compared both bikes on paper and here is what we found out.
Design
While both bikes look modern and sport a contemporary design, the Pulsar N125 gets a more youthful and fresher appearance. Its slanting headlight with panels on the edges and the angular tank design gives it a sharp look with all the cuts and creases. On the other hand, although the Raider has been around for a few years, still looks desirable and balances sportiness with practicality quite well. Its compact build with the right proportions gives it a swanky look overall.
Features
Bajaj has offered the Pulsar N125 with LED illumination, a fully digital console and CBS. The cluster is smartphone-compatible but only for the top-spec version. Meanwhile, the Raider also gets smartphone connectivity, LED illumination, and optional TFT on the higher-spec models.
Engine
Powering the Bajaj Pulsar N125 is a 124.5cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that makes 11.38bhp and 11Nm and is linked to a five-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the TVS Raider gets a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, three-valve motor. It belts out 11.2bhp and 11.2Nm and comes with a five-speed gearbox. While the Pulsar has higher output figures, the difference is marginal.
Hardware
Both motorcycles get telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. While Bajaj offers a standard front disc and rear drum brake, TVS offers the Raider with a drum brake at both ends for the base model and a front disc only for the higher spec variants. The two 125cc commuters get 17-inch wheels with road-biased tyres.
Price
The Bajaj Pulsar N125 is priced at Rs. 94,707 for the standard trim and Rs. 98,707 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Bluetooth variant. Meanwhile, the base model of the TVS Raider costs Rs. 84,869 whereas the Raider SX retails at Rs. 1,04,330 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
