Bajaj officially launched the Pulsar NS200 with ABS with a price tag of Rs 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike gets a single-channel ABS along with a bigger, 300mm disc at the front. It rivals against the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Yamaha FZ25. However if you are not specific about owning a streetfighter, you could also opt for five other motorcycles in a similar price bracket; here is what the list looks like-
The anti-lock braking system is a safety feature that prevents wheel-lock up during hard braking. In the case of the NS 200 ABS which features a single-channel ABS, the system will only prevent the front wheel from locking-up. However, this variant is priced Rs 12,000 higher than the standard version. You can opt for the standard NS200 without ABS that is priced at Rs 96,883.
Bajaj also offers the Pulsar RS200 at a similar price tag. The RS200 is the manufacturer’s first fully-faired motorcycle and shares its engine with the NS200. Both the bikes use a 199cc single-cylinder engine, although the Pulsar RS200 gets a slightly more powerful fuel-injected mill. The Pulsar RS200 puts out 24.5bhp and maximum torque of 18.6Nm of torque while the NS200 produces 23.5bhp and 18.3Nm of torque. The Pulsar RS200 same the same 300mm front disc as the NS200 ABS although the non-ABS variant of the NS200 sports a 280mm disc. The RS200 is priced at Rs 1.24 lakhs
Yamaha also offers two fully-faired motorcycles in a similar price range, the R15 and R15 S. The only aspect that differentiates the two bikes is the seat; the R15S sports a single-piece seat while the standard R15 gets a raised step seat. Both bikes are powered by the same 150cc single-cylinder engine that produces 16bhp at 8500rpm and peak torque of 15Nm at 7500rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The bikes are priced at Rs 1.18 lakh and Rs 1.15 lakh respectively.
You could also look at the Royal Enfield Bullet 350, the manufacturer’s most affordable offering. The bike uses an air-cooled 346cc single-cylinder engine that produces 19.8bhp and 28Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Prices for the Bullet 350 start at Rs 1.13 lakh.
All prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
