The long wait for Pulsar fans and enthusiasts is finally over as Bajaj Auto has finally launched the Pulsar RS200 for the Indian market. It is priced at Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and an ABS version of it has been priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike was unveiled as the SS200 in some countries abroad, but recently christened as the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
The Pulsar RS200 is a smaller displacement version of the SS400 concept shown at the 2014 Auto Expo and is the fully-faired version of the NS200. Carrying over most of the elements from the younger naked sibling, the RS200 features the body kit from the Pulsar SS400. The bike gets dual projector headlamps, DRLS, new OVRMs, clip-on handle-bars and new tail lamps. The side lamps are carried over from the KTM Duke 200 and 390, and the rear-tyre hugger is from the NS200.
The Pulsar SS200 is powered by same 200cc engine that the current NS200 is powered with. But this motor produces 24.1bhp of power and 18.3Nm of torque. Bajaj has offered the motorcycle in two variants – with and without ABS.
With the production of the motorcycle in full swing at Bajaj's plant at Chakan, the first batch of units will reach dealerships soon and get delivered to customers. At this competitive pricing, the Pulsar RS200 has locked horns with the Yamaha YZF-R15 and the Honda CBR 150R. We are sure it is going to give these motorcycles a tough time not only in terms of sales, but performance too. Stay tuned to BikeWale as we will soon review this motorcycle and let you know how much juice this one has!
