The Bajaj Pulsar VS400 was recently spotted at a commercial shoot in Ladakh. Marking Bajaj’s foray into a completely new segment, the new Pulsar VS400 is expected to hit the showrooms in the next couple of weeks.
The Pulsar VS400 is a sports cruiser, which gets an aggressive stance with a stretched out wheelbase, low set handlebars and a muscular fuel tank. Bajaj has retained a majority of styling elements from the CS400 concept shown at the 2014 Auto Expo, like the headlamp, stubby exhaust, alloy wheels and the tail section. However, the front USD suspension setup from the concept has been replaced with conventional telescopic forks. Powering the Pulsar VS400 is an upgraded version of the same single-cylinder unit from the Pulsar AS200 and the Pulsar RS200. Displacing 375cc, this liquid-cooled unit produces 34bhp, which is significantly less than what the KTM Duke 390 delivers. For now, the Pulsar VS400 will be the most powerful motorcycle in Bajaj’s line-up.
Given that the Pulsar VS400 is now in its production-ready form and has gone through ARAI certification formalities, the next step would be its official launch. We can safely expect the Pulsar VS400 to sport a price tag in the range of Rs 1.7 lakh to Rs 1.9 lakh. It will compete with the Mahindra Mojo and the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
