Bajaj seems to have turned a new chapter with the start of the year. The company recorded a 36 per cent growth in domestic sales in the first month of the year, as compared to the corresponding period in 2017.
Bajaj sold 1.63 lakh motorcycles in the domestic market in January 2018 as compared to 1.19 lakh motorcycles it had managed in January 2017. The growth in export numbers was even more significant, as the company shipped off 1.25 lakh motorcycles in the last month as compared to 92,021 units it had exported in January 2017. Overall, Bajaj reported a 36 per cent growth in sales numbers.
Bajaj sales had taken a hit in the last quarter of 2016 and most of 2017 due to the announcement of demonetisation and the industry’s move to BS IV emission norms. Nevertheless, the company now seems to be back on track. Last month, Bajaj launched the MY2018 updates for its range along with the new Discover models. These updates seem to have given Bajaj sales a shot in the arm.
