Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales numbers have jumped by seven per cent in September 2017, as compared to the similar period in the last year. With a domestic sales figure of 2.47 lakh motorcycles in the last month, Bajaj has cemented its position as the country’s fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer.
Bajaj has been suffering from a bad spell since the announcement of demonetisation last year. Post that, the industry’s move to BS IV emission norms further hampered the company’s domestic sales. Nevertheless, Bajaj has been recording a jump in export numbers since the past few months. Last month however, the company finally bounced back and recorded a seven per cent increase in domestic sales. Exports also increased by 20 per cent in September, translating into an overall growth of 11 per cent.
The resurgence of Bajaj can be attributed to the onset of the festive season and the healthy monsoon, and we can expect a further jump in sales numbers in the next month. The company has introduced special schemes for its commuter bike range to further boost the sales.
